About Us

Located just 25 Miles North of Charleston, South Carolina is the home of "Charivari" Cavalier King Charles Spaniels. CHARIVARI, pronounced "shah ree-va ree." The name comes from a Cajun wedding custom in which friends and family of the newlyweds throw a loud, raucous party on the night of their marriage. A wild time is anticipated, but just what will happen is uncertain. Our Cavalier King Charles Spaniels help keep that spirit of mischief alive, quiet the clowns and full of personality.

We are members of the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Club-USA (CKCSC-USA), Cavaliers of the South(COS) and the Palmetto Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Club. We also assist with Cavalier rescue in South Carolina and participate in Conformation, Obedience, Agility, Rally, and Therapy Work.

We are relatively new to this wonderful breed; Cavaliers, and are learning more every day about breeding, health, type, and temperament. We have managed to find some great mentors throughout the years, who have and continue to help guide us along the way.

For our breeding program at Charivari we've set very high goals. First and foremost is to only produce healthy, sound puppies with ideal temperaments and conformation. We feel very strongly about breeding only the best and screen all our adult dogs yearly by veterinary Cardiologists and Opthamologist for mitral valve disease (MVD) and eye problems (CERF). We also screen for patella luxation and hip dysplasia (OFA).

At Charivari all our dogs are holistically raised and are fed fresh raw food following the BARF (Bones and Raw Food) and Volhard diet, in conjunction with a super-premium pet food like Nature's Variety and Innova's Evo. All our puppies are weaned onto the Volhard diet for optimum health, nutrition and development. We are very concerned about over-vaccination, and support the limited vaccine protocol.
